Echoes From Birmingham: 50 Years Later--Gospel Memorial Concert Featuring Dianne Robertson Braddock

Indiana University South Bend Civil Rights Heritage Center Presents:  Echoes From Birmingham: 50 Years Later; Commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Birmingham, Alabama church bombing that 16th_street_churchgalvanized efforts to pass the landmark Civil Rights Acts of 1964 and 1965.

Gospel Memorial Concert will feature the Gospel Choirs of Indiana University South Bend, Bethel College, University of Notre Dame, and the Andrews University Silent Praise sign choir. 

Dianne Braddock will deliver the keynote address.  Braddock is the sister of Carole Robertson, who was one of four schoolgirls killed when a bomb planted by white supremacist terrorists in the 16th Street Baptist Church exploded on the morning of September 15, 1963.

Event underwriters include Bethel College, the City of South Bend, Indiana University South Bend, NIPSCO, Sodexo, Visit South Bend Mishawaka, the South Bend Tribune, and the University of Notre Dame.
