The University of Notre Dame and Saint Mary’s College Tax Assistance Program

(TAP) will offer free personal tax return preparation on Mondays only at the Washington Street facility. The TAP volunteers are 4th & 5th year-college accounting students and provide the service for clients with an income limit of $45,000.

 

Client qualifications:

  • U.S. Citizen Legal Permanent Resident Holds a Green Card

 

Please bring the documents that “apply directly apply to your personal” filing needs.

  • social security card for all individuals listed on the return

  • driver’s license, or government issued identification card

  • copy of tax year 2015 federal and state tax returns

  • employment forms such as W-2 and other forms such as 1099, 1099-DIV, 1099-INT, or etc.

  • other income such as unemployment form 1099 G

  • bank account information (routing and account numbers) for direct deposit of refunds

  • amount of rent paid and the name and address of the property owner to receive the State of Indiana deduction for rent paid to a private property owner.

 

Paperwork for filing personal itemized deduction for credits and deductions such as:

 

  • mortgage interest

  • real estate taxes

  • personal property taxes

  • medical costs

  • college tuition and fees

  • charitable contributions

  • spending for child and/or dependent care

  • Limited walk-in eight (8) clients to register on February 13, 20, & 27

  • Limited by appointment five (5) clients to register then accepting ten (10) walk-in clients on March 6, 20, & 27. Please note that the office is closed on March 13

  • Call for appointment: April 3 & 10 are limited to fifteen (15) clients

 

TAP provides on-site assistance for the mobility impaired individuals at home, in an extended care facility, or a social service agency. For an appointment, please call 574-631-7863. (NOTE: After April 12, please call 574-631-4644 for follow up service.)
