Afro-Latinos in Movement: Critical Approaches to Blackness and Transnationalism in the Americas

About the conference:

This conference is an initiative of the newly formed Afro-Latino Working Group sponsored by the Inter-University Program for Latino Research (IUPLR), and headed by Jennifer Jones (University of Notre Dame), Petra Rivera-Rideau (Virginia Tech) and Tianna Paschel(University of Chicago). Convened by the Institute for Latino Studies, the Afro-Latinos in Movement conference showcases new directions in Afro-Latino studies. At this conference, scholars from across the country and beyond will come together at Notre Dame to explore broader questions of black identity and representation, transnationalism and diaspora among Afro-Latinos in the United States and Afro-Latin Americans. Papers from this conference will be published in an eponymous edited volume.
