The Segura Arts Studio welcomes Einar and Jamex de la Torre for a discussion about their work. Collaborating artists-brothers Einar and Jamex de la Torre were born in Guadalajara, México where they grew up until a sudden family move to California in 1972. Their signature style is to encrust surfaces and cram spaces with objects and images. which often results in a Baroque mix of the high and the low, the sacred and the profane, Mexico and America. Their most recent work combines Mexican and American culture with a dash of Asian. Today they maintain homes and studios on two sides of the U.S.-Mexico border – in San Diego and near Ensenada. Einar and Jamex de la Torre have received many awards including: Tijuana Cultural Center / “Estandartes Biennal” 2nd Place Award / Tijuana, BC, MX – 2010 and San Diego Art Prize / San Diego, CA – 2010. Their work has been exhibited at the Glazenhuis - Glass Museum, Chrysler Museum of Art, Tucson Museum of Art, The Getty Research Instittute, and Cafam - Craft & Folk Art Museum.
